Review & Description

The Opus 86 condenser microphone has been developed for miking accordions and Styrian harmonicas. The cardioid microphone capsule features a high-gain-before feedback and the frequency response has been optimised for live applications. Due to the shock-mounted microphone capsule mechanical noise is avoided. The microphone is mounted to the accordion with the supplied mounting parts. The microphone slides into the mount and can be removed for transport while the mount remains on the accordion. If required, a maximum of three Opus 86 microphones can be mounted to one accordion. The individual signals are mixed with the optional Opus Mix 31 and routed as a master signal to a beltpack transmitter or wired pre-amplifier. The Opus Mix 31 mini mixer comes in a high-quality magnesium cast housing and supplies a maximum of three Opus 86 microphones with the required AB-powering via a 9 Volt battery. The desired input gain for each microphone can be adjusted with the appropriate gain control. Alternatively, two Opus 86 and one neckworn microphone (e.g. Opus 54) can be connected to the Opus Mix 31 to transmit vocals and the accordion on one channel with a wireless system.
